Candle Care
Thank you for purchasing one of our luxurious candles! We make each one with so much love and care and want you to have the best experience when lighting your Lighthouse Cove product. Unlike mass produced candles, hand-poured candles require a little attention and love to ensure you get the best out of the product. With proper care, your candles will provide lasting enjoyment and fragrance!
General Candle Care
- Keep the wick centered and trimmed to ¼ inch at all times.
- Always burn candles in sight, out of reach of children and pets, and never on flammable surfaces.
- Remove all packaging before lighting and place the candle on a temperature-safe surface.
- Keep away from drafts and vents and ensure the wax pool is free of debris.
- Do not burn candles for over 4 hours at a time, and discontinue use when ¼ inch of wax remains.
- Avoid using water or any liquid to put out your candle.
Soot Issues
To minimize excess soot:
- Trim wicks to ¼ inch before each lighting; 1/8’’ if soot persists.
- Keep the candle away from drafts and limit burn time to 3-4 hours.
- Consider using our Wick Trimmer to maintain the ideal wick length.
If soot continues, discontinue use and contact us.
Cracked Candles
To prevent cracking:
- Ensure wicks are trimmed to ¼ inch and centered before each burn.
- Avoid drafts and do not exceed 3-4 hours of burn time.
Discontinue use if wick clips are exposed or if only ¼’’ of wax remains.
Tunneling
Tunneling can often happen during the initial burns. To correct this:
- Initial burns: Light your candle for 3-4 hours during the first few uses to allow wax to pool.
- If Tunneling Persists: Utilize aluminum foil by wrapping it around the candle; this helps retain heat and may correct the melt pool.
Wick Issues
If the flame self-extinguishes:
- Wait for the wick to cool, then gently twist it to loosen fibers before relighting.
- If necessary, dab away excess wax around the wick with a paper towel. Dispose of it safely.
Contact us if your candle continues to have issues remaining lit.
Fragrance Performance
To enhance fragrance:
- Burn your candle for 3-4 hours to allow full wax and wick activation.
- Relocate the candle away from drafts to optimize fragrance throw.
- Remember: single-wick candles are best for smaller rooms, while multiple-wick candles are suited for larger spaces.
